junior: dandelion child

last fall (fall 2009) the junior illustration program was invited to the 6x6 gallery (which i found out is having it's last show in november before it closes forever) anyway our theme was superstitions. i illustrated the superstition that when you blow the seeds off a dandelion, the seeds remaining are the number of children you're destined to have. so my thought process was that because you have some level of control over such an outcome (i.e. how hard/lightly you blow) you are willingly dismissing a huge portion of your potential offspring. in other words all the seeds that are blown away are unwanted, aborted children. don't freak out dude. i don't actually think about this stuff ;) 6x6: acrylic and gouache on canvas between layers of resin

high school portfolio: converse

my first experience using acrylic at some crafty "portfolio" workshop. this is painfully unimaginative and the colors are depressing, but i really miss those shoes. they were cuter in real life ;)
