high school portfolio: the piano

this is my family's front room in newburyport. this piece is also quite large, and mostly cut paper. i can still dig parts of it. too bad the upper part is so sad.

high school portfolio: the count of monte cristo

this piece is pretty giant, and made of cut paper. i still look at it from time to time... and like it ;)

high school portfolio: still life

i still like this actually, but what's the point of still lifes?!

high school portfolio: self portrait

apparently i shot heroine into my face that day. or got my wisdom teeth pulled... lol this portrait is crazy. i can barely look at it. i even gave myself fake short hair. at least i didn't give myself fake boobs!

high school portfolio: running shoes

another generic portfolio piece. not much to say...

high school portfolio: radiator

how sad are these colors?! and this is a photoshopped version of what was sent to schools way back when! oh well. at least i got in ;)

high school portfolio: boy

this is another product of that pathetic portfolio workshop i did. at least they got an interesting model! i really liked it at the time. i guess it's not so bad, i just hate the thought of drawing like this now.

high school portfolio: nudes

i went to figure drawing sessions at our local art association. they felt so long at the time, and they were at night in a hot room so i was always so sleepy. and i went with my mom! i don't know WHY these were chosen for my portfolio when i know i had better ones. the first one is out of proportion but we probably chose it for the color, and the other one is just boring and badly drawn. i have no idea!?!

high school portfolio: mikayla

i don't think this ever made it to my portfolio, but it was photographed so it must have been a maybe! it's pretty embarrassing though. mostly because of the "cubism" haha. actually i have quite a few drawings of mikayla because we sat across from each other in art class. this is probably the worst of them, but it was in color so it felt more important lol. maybe i'll post them later though. they're fun to see together.

high school portfolio: feet

ugh this position got so uncomfortable after a while! pretty standard though. feet.

high school portfolio: dresser

my first watercolor! this is actually pretty big and i really just churned it out when i needed one more piece for my portfolio.

high school portfolio: converse

my first experience using acrylic at some crafty "portfolio" workshop. this is painfully unimaginative and the colors are depressing, but i really miss those shoes. they were cuter in real life ;)

high school portfolio: closet door

i remember reeeaaaling liking this when i first did it because the colors turned out so unexpected. the door itself came out looking HUGE so my parents told me to lie at portfolio reviews and say it actually was a giant door lol. i don't think it ever came up ;)

high school portfolio: alix

i had my sister sit like this for hours while i tried getting this right. her head's too big, and the background is a total afterthought, but at the time i thought i really got her face right. she does have a particular mouth, but it's a little much when i look at it now.
